If Ultrakill wasn’t available as a Demo on Steam, I probably wouldn’t have played it. It turned out to be one of the best first-person shooter games that I’ve played in 2020.
If you love extreme fast-paced shooters like Doom and Quake, Ultrakill is a must-play game and you should at least try the demo out on Steam.
It is described on Steam as:
a fast-paced ultraviolent retro FPS combining the skill-based style scoring from character action games with unadulterated carnage inspired by the best shooters of the ’90s.Arsi “Hakita” Patala via Steam
Don’t let the retro pixel visuals take you away from this game. I am like you, sometimes when I see these type of visuals, I am skeptic whether the game will a good one, but it’s a long time now that stop judging games by their cover.
The game is faster than Doom Ethernal, there are boss fights and some cool guns. You need to move fast and shoot fast. There is no time for standing still and evaluating your enemy, if you stand still you’ll die and fast.
One of the cool mechanics is the ability to punch enemies, including bosses to replenish health. This makes the game even more engaging and frantic, as you’ll continuously search for those opportunities to punch enemies to gain health while being low HP.
Each level looks different and gives you a sense of fear of the unexpected.
Here is a video review I did about Ultrakill and you can check out the gameplay and try to feel the game for yourself. But trust me when I said it, you need to play the game to really feel it.
Overall, a fantastic first-person shooter that in my opinion, worth its price tag. But at least try the demo and check it out for yourselve.
Check out the game’s page on Steam. Have Fun!
