Playing PS5 and Switch Games on Quest 3 in Mixed Reality

Today I downloaded both a PC app and an Oculus app for Meta Quest 3 called Immersed. It’s a remote desktop streaming app.

I used this Quest app to play PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch games on the Quest 3 in Mixed Reality. Although Xbox Game Pass games will be playable on the Quest 3 with the upcoming Game Pass app, PS5 and Switch aren’t available.

The way I made it work, it using a video capture card to display PS5 and Switch games into OBS Studio. Then making it full screen, and using Immersed app to view my Windows PC’s desktop, which now shows the game I’m playing.

You cannot use the Quest 3 controllers to control the game of course, only the console’s official controllers or supported one that affect the game on the console.

I played games like Overwatch 2 and Rocket League (PS5) and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch).

The cool thing is that because the screen is virtual, you can move it anywhere, resize it and play a game in a cinema size screen. However, in order to be able to stream at higher resolution, you’ll need to upgrade from the free ‘Starter’ to the ‘Pro’ paid one (I think it’s called ‘pro’ not sure). This allow higher quality streaming. Still, the free also works well.

Immersed app also work great for productivity, as you can open multiple screens and use it for work. But for me, I just use it to play console games like the Switch and PS5 on the Quest on a big screen and I love it.

Overall, worth trying and it plays beautifully on the Meta Quest 3 because of the high quality color passthrough. You can use using USB connection or WiFi, but USB is recommended for faster connectivity to minimize lag. You do need to enable developer mode if you want to be able to use the USB option though.

Good luck!
