Paragon: The Overprime is known as one of the Paragon remakes out there alongside Predecessor and Fault (not in development anymore). However, although it uses Paragon assets released by Epic Games, it features a map that is quite far from the original, with added features like teleportation, invisibility bushes, Orb Prime can attack the enemy’s base and only 1-tier tower before the inhibitor.
This makes Paragon: The Overprime a much different game. Due to only a 1-tier tower, the game breaks into a brawl/group fights much faster. Once the tower is out, players tend to group up and the game feels more like Overwatch than a strategic MOBA game.
Some might not mind that, lots of action and shorter matches, but this is far from what a classic MOBA is. It can translate to a more action-packed viewing experience in tournaments, but this is not how I personally want Paragon to be like.
Don’t get me wrong, I want things to be changed, but the map changes are just too significant and make it feel like a completely new MOBA game.
One of the reasons I liked Paragon, is because of the map design. The classic Legacy Paragon map was my favorite and many think that Paragon lost it once they switched to the Monolith map in 2016.
That being said, Paragon: The Overprime feels much different than the original Paragon game. Many of the fans that are eager to get their favorite game back see Overprime getting further away from it, while Predecessor is more loyal to the original one.
Which one will attract more players, that are yet to be seen. But as of right now, it seems that those two games are going to be very much different from each other.
Your thoughts?
