Revenant is the newest carry hero introduced to Predecessor as of patch version 0.3. The patch is planned to be released on January 24. This hero is already released in Paragon: The Overprime.
Revenant is a ranger hero that carries a 4-bullet revolver (pistol). Revenant is not a totally new hero–he is one of the original heroes introduced in Paragon, the original game that Predecessor is a remake of.
Revenant builds usually focus on high damage, mostly focusing on eliminating single targets fast. As strong as he is, he has disadvantages, the main ones related to the fact that he has no escape abilities, lacks mobility, and needs to reload in between his basic attacks.
Revenant Ultimate Ability
Revenant ultimate ability is one of the most interesting ones in Predecessor, and as it was in Paragon. It allows Revenant to single out an enemy to a duel–both separated from the other teams.
This ability is like the ultimate zoning ability, allowing Revenant to make sure that his target can’t attack anyone but himself.
The duration of the Reckoning ult is 6/7/8 seconds. A very long duration, but keep in mind that this time was meant to allow dueling.
This is also where Revenant has an advantage as a very strong duel hero, with his ability to focus on single-target assassinations.
Recommended targets to keep out of combat during team fights are squishy but powerful heroes, which means ADC carries heroes, support, or mid-casters. Enemies that you see you can eliminate (e.g. low HP), rather than risking yourself.
The main reason for that is that you get bonus gold when you are able to eliminate a hero inside the nether realm, obtained from the Bounties.
Auto-Targeting Attack

Predecessor’s Revenant primary ability is called Obliterate. This is was one of the most devastating single-target attacks in Paragon, and I am positive this will remain in Pred.
Upon use, Revenant unleashes 10 ethereal missiles that home in and hit random targets within a wide cone, dealing damage with subsequent hits against enemy heroes dealing 15% damage.
Of course, you want to make sure you are able to land all the hits on a single target to max damage output. This is ensured inside the Nether Realm as you’ll be dueling. But if more opponents are inside the cone, it will spread among them.
How to Counter Revenant?
Remember, Revenant is squishy like other casters, lacks escape capabilities, and needs to reload after 4 shots. This means that Revenant will prefer dealing with 1-2 targets and not waste the damage on several enemies, not durable ones that are heavily shielded or have lots of HP.
Although he can melt those in the late game, the late game is more group fights, so you are safer. That being said, he can always take you to the realm for a duel.
This means that being able to silence Revenant and prevent him from using his ult will give you time to eliminate him with another player, preferably with support.
Support heroes like Riktor can be great against him, being able to get him from his safe distance where he enjoys attacking from. Also, Muriel might be good here trying to exhaust his mana while protecting her teammates.
With no escaping options just dash, Revenant might need to spend his ult to be able to escape. A good strategy if you want to exhaust his ult in favor of survivability.
When in mid, watch out, and stay near your minions so you won’t get single auto-targeted by his Obliterate ability. Also once marked, try to keep your distance so the mark wears off and you won’t get the extra damage. Revenant will try to poke you a lot because of that.
Overall, I still need to spend a lot of time playing with him to see how he feels in Predecessor. I’ll share more on my YouTube channel, including top Revenant builds and tips to make the best out of this hero–so make sure to Subscribe!
