Ordered HyperX SoloCast Streamers USB Microphone

One of the things that are very important for me as a streamer and content creator is having a good microphone for voiceover recording. Whether I make YouTube videos or stream on Twitch or YouTube. Today I bought the HyperX SoloCast condenser microphone.

Until now, I just used a headset’s built-in microphone. I purchase the SteelSeries Arctis 5 lately, which had good audio quality and decent microphone recording quality—but it wasn’t great.

Today I ordered the HyperX SoloCast microphone. I read several reviews and recommendations for the best microphones that are compatible both with the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PC. I also wanted something for a relatively inexpensive price. As of the time of writing, the HyperX SoloCast is listed for $59.99 on Amazon.com (marked as Amazon’s Choice BTW).

The HyperX SoloCast is a condenser microphone that features a Cardioid Polar pattern. Condenser microphones offer superior sound quality, they have the widest frequency response and best transient response (source: neumann.com). In other words, condenser microphones are designed to record sounds with great detail and accuracy.

What is Condenser Microphone & What ‘Cardioid’ Pattern Means?

Condenser microphones can also be cardioid. The cardioid polar pattern means that sound is recording with the highest sensitivity of the sound coming from directly in front of the microphone and much less or not at all of sound coming from the rear or sides. So basically, it focuses on your voice and reduces picking up other surrounding voices behind or at the sides of the microphone.

Basically, this microphone was made with that particular pattern, while other more expensive microphones offer different patterns to choose from. This is why the HyperX SoloCast USB microphone is optimized for voiceover recording/streamers.

HyperX SoloCast Features

Now, aside from what I described above, the HyperX SoloCast USB condenser microphone was designed to be Plug N Play audio recording. It’s very easy to set up for both PC and PlayStation 5. I have yet to receive it, once I do, I’ll make a complete review.

There is a mute button on the microphone which you can tap to mute the audio and a LED light to give you a visual indication when the mic is muted. It has a flexible adjustable stand and you can even mount it on different microphone mounts. I personally will start with just having it on the desk, maybe later I’ll buy a microphone mount from Amazon if I need to.

The HyperX SoloCast comes with Boom Arm and mic stand threading, to do just that.

On the official website, they showed that the HyperX SoloCast is compatible with PC, PS4, PS5, and Mac as well and it’s Discord Certified.

This headset was also got raving reviews on many PC hardware-related online magazines, like PC Gamer, Geek Dad and others.

I’ll share more once I get my microphone so make sure to Subscribe to SpookyFairy’s YouTube channel.
