Yesterday I finished the story playthrough of Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. I already started my second playthrough on the new mode that unlocks after you finish the first one.
I made a YouTube video review covering different aspects of the game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and sharing my opinion about the game. I share my thoughts about the length of the game, whether is it too short, how the gameplay looks and feels on the PS5 playing with the DualSense controller, and some of the issues I encountered.
I bought Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart on the Black Friday sale. Even before playing it, I thought that considering its length, the $70 price tag is a bit too high.
That being said, in my review of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, I leave that aside and talk about the quality of the gameplay itself.
I am a fan of the franchise, but because I haven’t played the Remastered version and the last Ratchet and Clank game that I played was on the PS3, it felt kind of like a new experience.
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Game Pros:
- Absolutely marvelous visual effects
- Super enjoyable explosive gunplay
- Fun and rewarding exploration and side missions
- Cool somewhat challenging puzzles (play as Clank)
- Fantastic DualSense haptic support, really ads to the immersion and make gameplay just more fun overall
- Plays amazing in Performance RT mode (Ray-tracing + 60 FPS)
- Additional content and upgrades on secondary playthrough and addtional difficulty options
- Gorgeous worlds to explore
- Great cutscenes and not overused (more action, less movie)
- Combat is snappy, flashy and responsive
- Supports HDR
- Great showcase of the PS5 capabilities, both in terms of performance and DualSense controller features
- Adorable characters
- Cool set of game settings for visuals, frame rate, speedruns and more..
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart Game Cons:
- Short game length (although still packed with lots of action and fun things to do; not every game has to be long) – for some maybe beetter to wait for a sale
- Can get stuck in certain areas of the map during exploration (minor annoynace for those who want to explore every single corner of the map , it’s eay to just respawn though to get out of it)
- Plays on the same old familar formula with little gameplay innovation (although this formula works great)
- I wish armor would result in more unique abilities rather than stat/XP boosts
- Story is nothing to write home about but I don’t expect TLOU story quality either
I hope you enjoy the video review and found it useful and I hope it helps you decide whether it’s worth buying this holiday season or skipping until the price gets even lower. Thanks.
