There is a big debate, about which Paragon map is better for the new Paragon remakes: Monolith or the original OG Paragon map, Legacy
Predecessor features Monolith map, whether Overprime is using the Legacy map. Some players, including myself, really liked the Legacy map. That being said, the more I played Paragon in its final weeks and now Predecessor–and I do prefer Monolith.
But I need to explain why.
One reason I love Monolith is because of its “closeness”. It feels like a reimagination of the fog of war of games like LoL and Dota2 but for a TPP MOBA. It has this continuous “information hide-and-seek” strategic play. Alongside that, you feel constant tension when less information is available.
These are some of the things that make me enjoy MOBA games in general, the constant seek information where what’s visible is lesser than what’s not.
Of course, this means that proper balancing need to take place, as some heroes can be very strong and surprise you with you have very few options to react. Some complained about it and I’m sure Omeda Studios, the dev of Predecessor will address it.
Keep in mind that some heroes will have that advantage, and it’s up to you and your team to get information and strategize against it. Doing so, it feels very satisfying.
The image above shows the map differences between Predecessor and Overprime. You can see that one of the significant differences is a more robust jungle area for Overprime and only 1 tower, while Predecessor has two.
Aside from that Overprime’s OG Paragon Legacy map has a portal, invisibility bushes, more jungle objectives.
Whether one is better than the other is subjective, as some players will prefer one over the other. Some will choose Overprime because of that reason because OP is using the Legacy map. Others will prefer Predecessor for using the Monolith map.
What are your reasons for preferring Legacy over Monolith or vice versa?
